story: community preparation

Here is a picture from the just before the war...perhaps 1939, when Daphne, my mother, was a nanny in the south of England. As the threat of an invasion was close they moved the family inland away from the coast. It was after this that my mother enlisted in the R.A.F. and was posted in a hospital in Newcastle. It must have been chaotic times indeed for a family that was used to living the quiet village life.

These experiences must have shaped Daphne's character and is evident in her dedication to the community of Little Mountain.

Thoughts from Daphne's son Greg.
