My friend and I would go up to Percy Norman Pool on occasion and swim together. I was a new to the water - beginner adult - and it was fun to have company and encouragement to venture forth into the world of the public swimming pool.
She also introduced me to the finer points of getting hot water to run in the showers and explained that if the water began to run too cool just to go into the adjacent bathroom and give the toilet a flush – and voila! Hot water again.
